สโตรมาโตไลต์คือโครงสร้างชีวภาพที่เกิดจากสิ่งมีชีวิตขนาดเล็กไฟลัมไซยาโนแบคทีเรีย ร่วมกับการตกตะกอน เชื่อว่าเป็นสิ่งมีชีวิตชนิดแรกของโลก เกิดขึ้นเมื่อประมาณ 3500 ล้านปีที่ผ่านมา รูปร่างของสโตรมาโตไลท์พบได้หลากหลายลักษณะ เช่น เป็นชั้นเป็นรูปโดม และลักษณะคล้ายร่างแหเกิดในทะเล บริเวณน้ำตื้น ปัจจุบันก็ยังสามารถพบได้ที่อ่าว sharkbayในประเทศออสเตรเลีย  สโตรมาโตไลด์ ที่พบในจังหวัดสตูลกำเนิดอยู่ในใต้ทะเลลึกประมาณ 175 - 390 เมตร พบไม่บ่อยบนโลกมีอายุอยู่ในช่วงปลาย ยุคออร์โดวิเชียน เมื่อราว 443.8ล้านปี

Stromatolites are biological structures formed by small organisms (Phylum Cyanobacteria) together with the precipitation. Believed to be the first living organism in the world. It occurred about 3500 million years ago. The shape of the stromatolite find many different shapes such as a domed layer looks like a net in the shallow sea area. At present, it is found at shark bay in Australia. Stromatolides found in Satun province, the deep sea about 175 to 390 meters. It is rarely found on Earth at the end of the Ordovician Era about 443.8 million years old.
